René Rodriguez was born to be a chef. Raised in Mexico, he discovered his passion for food at the tender age of 12 and began working in his uncle’s restaurant where he explored his love of the intense flavours of the local cuisine. Several years later he returned to hone his skills at some of Canada’s top restaurants.   

In 2014 he won Canada’s Top Chef and has never looked back! He followed that win with another triumph when he prevailed in the U.S. Food Networks intense culinary contest Beat Bobby Flay in 2017.

Chef Rodriguez continues to be inspired by classical music and is immersed in the world food scene. He often reads other chefs’ cookbooks and travels to his favourite restaurants, including El Bulli in Spain and Charlie Trotter’s in Chicago.
